Building in public: Day 1

I've been curious about the idea of building in public for a long time. It feels like there's always a good reason to put it off: my most common reason is "why do it when no one will read it?"

Building publicly is a chicken-and-egg problem for me, and probably for other people too: I don't do it because I don't have an audience and I don't have an audience (maybe) because I don't do it.

Of course, it doesn't need to be that way. I can do it without expecting anyone to read it. Just do it for the sake of being accountable to yourself!

It's interesting: I look up to several companies and people who build in public, I've always admire the fact that they can be so transparent with their audience.

So this is my commitment right here: I'm going to be building in public from now on. And it aligns with what I'm building!

I'm building Perspectiva, a journal for people who struggle with journaling, so it makes perfect sense to use it as a way to write daily about what I learn, what I struggle with and where I'm going with it.
